White House: OpenAI, Google, Meta and peers sign voluntary AI audit pact
On 29 September 2026 at the White House, OpenAI, Google, Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia and xAI signed the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities: internal controls, a monitoring team, an outside auditor and an independent board committee. The Verge, CoinDesk and Euronews stress the deal is “morally binding,” with no penalties, deadlines or duty to name the auditor publicly.
